A burial vault is a protective outer container for the casket. In some cases, a vault is not required, however it provides the casket with superior, long-lasting protection against subsoil elements and the weight of heavy cemetery maintenance equipment. Like caskets and urns, vaults can also be personalized with images, emblems, or engraved words or verses.
